WE HAVE FORGOTTEN TO BE THANKFUL

The thankfulness of Ezra Stiles (1727-95) must be resurrected again in our thinking. He was thankful for the blessings God had bestowed upon this nation. He said: "And now, my fellow audience, the Most High planted our fathers, a small handful, in this land, and lo! We, their posterity, have arisen up to three million people. Our ears have heard, and our fathers have told us, the marvelous things God did for them; but our eyes have seen far more marvelous things done for us, whereof we are glad and rejoice this day. ... Having fought the good fight, our warfare ended, let us not fail to look through providence up to the God of providence, and give glory to God the Lord of Hosts."
