Do not fret because of evildoers.
Be not envious toward wrongdoers.
For they will wither quickly
like the grass.
And fade like the green herb.
Trust in the Lord, and do good.
Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness.
The wicked plots against the righteousness.
And gnashes at him with the teeth.
The Lord laughs at him;
for He sees his day is coming!
With Him are wisdom and might;
To Him belong counsel and understanding.
… He makes counselors walk barefoot,
and makes fools of judges.
… He overthrows the secure ones.
He deprives the trusted ones of speech.
And takes away the discernment of the elders.
He pours contempt on nobles,
and loosens the belt of the strong.
He makes the nations great, then destroys them;
He enlarges the nations,
Then leads them away.
… They grope in darkness with no light,
and He makes them stagger like a drunken man.
“Congressmen who willfully take actions during wartime
that damage morale and undermine the military are
saboteurs and should be arrested, exiled, or hanged.”
(Abraham Lincoln – 1863)
