There is a wonderful passage in Scripture that gives comfort about the afterlife that every believer needs to study! It is Isaiah 57:1-2, which reads: "The righteous man perishes, and no man takes it to heart; and devout men are taken away, while no one understands. For the righteous man is taken away from evil, he enters into peace; they rest in their beds, each one who walked in his upright way," says the great OT Hebrew scholar Joseph Alexander. "Taking it to heart" is not merely feeling or appreciating, but observing and perceiving what is right and true! "Peace and rest" here means those whose bodies are in the grave, with the soul in heaven. What a blessing even from the OT! – Dr. Mal Couch (Jan., 10) |
