The mayor of New York City, Mayor Bloomburg, has said there will be no clergy giving prayers at a memorial at the 9/11 Center in the City. This is the first time that such an action has ever been taken at a public ceremony. The Jewish mayor gave no reason but many think it was because this would offend Muslim clergy. The answer should be "So what of it?"

This shows how liberal the mayor is and how he offends his own Jewish heritage. He is denying the God of Scripture to ignore such an opportunity. But this is the way things are going!

In one sense it doesn't matter because New York is so liberal no one would be listening to any of the prayers by liberal Protestants and liberal Jews. It would only be a ceremony. Our nation has departed so far from the God of Scripture there is no returning it to any normal thinking or actions. The apostasy grows deeper!

A new Bible translation has hit the market and what I can tell by most of the comments about it, it is not being accepted very well. In fact some have even commented "It stinks." The translation is called the Common English Bible (CEB) and it was produced by twelve Catholic and twelve Protestant so-called "scholars." Since they have fouled up the translation so badly I cannot very well call them scholars.

One comment from folks who have looked at this version: "The use of the male pronouns are unacceptable." And "neutering God" is also almost heretical. Christ who is called in the Hebrew text "the Son of Man" is now called "the human one." This is a terrible mistake because He is doctrinally called the "Son" of Man[kind] in Daniel 7. And also: "The Son of God." These designation must be maintained or His doctrinal identification is lost.

While I'm sure there are many more mistakes in the translation these are the ones I focused on in order to note the horrible goofs the translation carries. It seems as if publishers are trying to outdo each other in misapplying the Hebrew and Greek texts and making the designations heretical. It's a race to see how far off they can stray in order to cause a misreading of the text.

This translation is a sign of the times. I predict that such translation work will grow worse through the next few decades and not better.

I recommend the New American Standard Bible (the NAS) with the Scofield Notes as the best version that can be relied on. As I do translation work weekly in both the Old and New Testaments I find the NAS the best and the closest to the biblical languages. In fact last night I recommended the NAS to a fellow who was asking. I added, "Be sure and get the NAS with the Scofield Notes." I happen to have known almost all of the authors of the notes. They are good men and they can be relied on for biblical accuracy.

In France, Islam is overtaking the members of the Catholic Church. This is happening all over Europe. The Muslims have a strategy, and they know what they're doing.

I'm now working on a book showing that Islam very well could be the Harlot of Babylon in Revelation 17-18. I have thought of this for some time now but recent research seems to be more and more confirming this idea. And I'm not the only one who has thought of this. It is making a lot of sense. —Dr. Mal Couch (8/11)

Anyone interested in the life of Christ needs to get the book "Jesus & The Forgotten City" by Richard Batey through Amazon. This is an outstanding work on His life and the city of Sepphoris that was not too far from Nazareth where the Lord was raised.

One interesting study has to do with the word "hypocrite" found throughout the Gospels. The Greek is a compound word "hupo=critos" meaning to "over judge." One place it is used is in Matthew 6:5-6: "And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synogogues ..."

Batey points out that in Sepphoris there was a large amphitheater and the word was used to describe "stage actors" that is, those who played a part, or in the common usage, those who practiced deceit. Batey's point is that Jesus probably heard the word used down the road at the theater in the city of Sepphoris. Batey added: "The word was from the theater, denoted an actor, then one who played a part or acted a false role in public life. The the Sermon on the Mount a recurring image is that of the hypocrite or stage actor. Hypocrisy is the split in a religious person between outward show and inner reality.

This is just one sample of what is in Batey's book. It has outstanding research dealing with the life of Christ and the impact of the city of Sepphoris. Of course Christ did not need what was going on in Sepphoris in order to teach but it must be remembered that Christ "kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men" (Luke 2:52).

Get the book! You will not be sorry!

In my Luke commentary I wrote: "The mental and spiritual growth of Jesus were beyond human comprehension and experience. It might be said that at this moment, Jesus began to move toward that destiny of full obedience to His heavenly Father. He grew up in a natural fashion yet as a budding youth who was without sin. As a growing child, He was still deity and was in essence very God, or what is termed in theology, the God-Man!"

So says the lead article and the cover in the recent issue of TIME Magazine. And this is just what has to happen for the antichrist to take over. There must be a crisis in order to bring the whole world to the brink. While the church will not go through the tribulation, we certainly may go through the storm clouds of God's wrath.

Without a doubt, the wrath of God is coming. And this may be our last hour for telling the world of the only escape found in Jesus Christ, and salvation in Him. To explain more of what is going on, I'm now finishing a new book on the rise of Islam and Babylon the Harlot. Also, the book will deal in detail with the Olivet Discourse and Matthew 24-25. My new book has started an important trilogy on the subject. The title is THE JEWS: AND THE FOUNDING OF AMERICA. For all first comers, and if they order both books together, the cost is $20 only. You'll will receive the new book on THE END OF EUROPE, and the recently released THE JEWS! This offer will not last long. The bargain will end the first of September. Send check of $20 to Scofield Ministries, 120 CR 3222, Clifton, TX 76634. Mention both books. —Dr. Mal Couch (8/11)

Many may not know it but the scholarship for Bible study is with the evangelical world, not the liberal world. You need to get my book, "Dictionary of Premillennial Theology" in order to understand this fact. It's $20 if you wish to order it from Scofield Ministries. I'll sign the book. It received the Silver Medallion Award from the CBA some years ago.

The wind is blowing, however, and evangelicals are missing their edge because we are going the way of the world. I was trained with the best of scholarship with four advanced degrees from the best schools at the time, during the 50s and 60s. But the schools I attended are departing from their moorings and going liberal slowly and by degree. Us old guys were well trained but the younger guys are not being so "learned." This is the way of the world. —Dr. Mal Couch (8/11)

Some have suggested that Paul's list of sins in 2 Timothy 3:1-7 may characterize the Democratic Party. Paul says "in the last days difficult times will come." He adds, "Men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful ..." But he then adds they will be "haters of good."

The majority of the leadership of the Democratic Party do not go to church nor to they tithe their income. Our Vice President only gives $300 a year to charity work, and that is not even to the work of churches. The leadership is against almost everything that is good. They are for abortion, open use of marijuana, homosexuality. And almost anything the Scriptures are for they are against. They target good people and do not want the Bible quoted in schools are in anywhere in the public arena. The expression "haters of good" is only one Greek word with the negative "a" as part of the word. The word could be translated "without affection for good." The Greek lexicon says of the word: "opposed to goodness and good men."

The Democratic Party has an agenda and it attracts those who have wrong intentions. It may be too strong to say they are for all that is evil and wrong but this may not be too much of a stretch!

Disarmed By Shariah

Political correctness prevents Army from recognizing sedition

By Adm. James A. Lyons, USN (Retired)

Washington Times

July 13, 2011

Pg. B4

Today, the mind-numbing disease of political correctness has so infected the American military leadership that it is a threat in itself. The political correctness mentality was the principal reason why Fort Hood's alleged murderer, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, was not cashiered out of the Army after a shocking June 2007 PowerPoint presentation he gave as part of his psychiatric residency program. In that presentation, he reportedly warned his Army colleagues and supervisor at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center of "adverse events" that would occur if the Army did not accept the precepts of Islamic Shariah law and grant Muslims serving in the Army conscientious objector status.

He went on to describe what he meant by adverse events, citing previous cases of Muslims murdering their fellow soldiers, spying against the United States, deserting their units and refusing to deploy. None of his fellow doctors or his supervisor reported his remarks, most likely out of fear of being labeled a bigot or racist, which in today's military could end one's career.

Now it seems the Army has embraced Maj. Hasan's position in an incredible decision made last month by the secretary of the Army to grant conscientious objector status to Pfc. Naser Abdo. He is a 21-year-old soldier, a member of the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Ky., who refused to deploy to Afghanistan, claiming that Shariah law prevented him from killing other Muslims.

The fact that Shariah law is totally incompatible with the U.S. Constitution and has no legal basis in the United States was somehow overlooked in the Army's decision process. Shariah is a totalitarian legal-military-political system that is designed to control every aspect of an individual's life and is antithetical to our concept of freedom and democracy. By its dictates, Shariah is seditious.

By acceding to the dictates of Shariah, the Army has tacitly endorsed an absurd position that in effect sanctions Muslim service members to kill non-Muslims but forbids them to kill Muslims. Further, it is an unbelievable basis on which to classify them as conscientious objectors.

When Pfc. Abdo enlisted, he stated he initially believed that he could be a soldier and a Muslim at the same time. What changed his vision? He stated that his understanding of Islam "changed" as he went through training ahead of a planned deployment to Afghanistan. He worried whether going to war was the right thing to do.

This would indicate that someone in the Army training process for an overseas deployment in the 2009-10 time frame was indoctrinating Pfc. Abdo and other Muslim soldiers. Could it have been one of the Muslim chaplains personally selected by Abdurahman Alamoudi, who currently is serving a 23-year sentence in a federal prison? He was convicted of terrorism-related charges and was proved to be a senior al Qaeda financier as well as a strong supporter of the terrorists groups Hezbollah and Hamas.

As a result of his close connections in the Clinton White House, Alamoudi had the lead role in establishing the Muslim chaplain program. He nominated and approved which Muslim chaplains could serve in the U.S. military. The chaplains have never been vetted. This, together with a review of how Muslim military personnel currently are being indoctrinated, needs to be examined on an expedited basis.

Who helped the Army come to this inconceivable position on classifying Pfc. Abdo as a conscientious objector? My guess would be the Army received "guidance" from its Muslim "outreach partners," who it believes are operating in America's best interest. This would be classic stealth jihad at its finest.

By granting conscientious objector status to Pfc. Abdo, the Army is tacitly accepting a key tenet of the Islamic doctrine of jihad, as embraced by al Qaeda and other terrorists groups, which states that any incursion by non-Muslims into the Islamic lands makes it the duty for all Muslims to fight the "occupiers." This view is shared by Afghan President Hamid Karzai, who has challenged American efforts in Afghanistan as "unwelcome outsiders," in effect, occupiers.

The U.S. military is the finest in the world. It represents the best of America. We have many Muslims serving honorably in the U.S. military and their service should not be tainted by Pfc. Abdo's conscientious objector designation. His discharge from the Army is currently on hold because he has been charged with possession of child pornography. That should not be surprising: Shariah sanctions marriage of girls 9 years old and younger, in effect, legalized pedophilia.

The peoples who live to the East of the Holy Land are not the good folks. They represent the Arabic peoples who later became the Muslims who are now tormenting the Jews. And, I believe the Muslims are mentioned in the Bible, not as a particular faith but as the peoples of the East who hate Israel.

Genesis 16:12 tells us that Ishmael would be a wild man and "he will live to the east of all his brothers." Following the death of Sarah, Abraham married Keturah. She bore him six sons (25:2) who then had other children who formed the tribal peoples to the east. Abraham realized that there would be trouble with these sons and the son, Isaac, who was the one who would inherit the covenant blessings. Thus, Abraham gave to these sons of Keturah gifts and sent them "away from his son Isaac eastward to the land of the east" (v. 6).

Esau also packed up and moved eastward to the region of Petra and Moab. More than likely, his grandchildren continued moving to the east as well, almost all the way to the start of the Saudi Arabian peninsula. There had to be a comrade-ship between these descendants of Abraham and the Arabic peoples of Babylon and the region of Ur. Esau apparently wanted to get out, for he "went to another land away from his brother Jacob" (36:6b).

When the kingdom begins the Jews will be at peace with one another. They will "plunder the sons of the east; they will possess Edom and Moab (just across the Jordan River) and the sons of Ammon will be subject to them. And the Lord will utterly destroy the tongue of the Sea of Egypt (the Red Sea) with His scorching wind; and He will strike it into seven streams, and make men walk over dry-shod" (11:14-15), and, "there will be a highway from Assyria for the remnant of His people who will be left" (v. 16).

The sons of the east would be today the Arabic peoples, those dwelling in the Middle East, from old Babylon and Saudi Arabia. The Islamic religion is dominant over the Arabic peoples with the Ka'ba Stone in Mecca as the central worship site for all of the Arabic world.

Be prepared! We're getting closer to the events prophesied! —Dr. Mal Couch (8/11)

I have come believe that Revelation 17-18 represents the Middle East, but specifically, the Muslim religion. Low and behold, a book has just come out (by Walid Shoebat) that says the same thing. I believe I'm right and I'm convinced that Shoebat has proven this to be so. This will be a classic work. The complete title: GOD'S WAR ON TERROR, by Walid Shoebat, Top Executive Media, 2010. Every Christian interested in biblical prophecy needs to get this volume. You can order it through Amazon. Actually, he says specifically that the Harlot is Saudi Arabia, the home of Islam. I can find no historical flaw in what he says. —Dr. Mal Couch (8/11)

Many do not know that the White House was struck by lightning on this past Easter Sunday. There are no accidents in God's world. He's in charge of all of nature! He is telling us that a judgment is coming!

But did you know that our President has appointed to high offices in Washington some 150 or more homosexuals. Obama has said "My administration has partnered with the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) community to advance a wide range of initiatives. … I have joined efforts at the United Nations to decriminalize homosexuality around the world."

This is the man that many Christians voted for. There is no turning back his evil intents to change this nation and move it away from its Christian roots. When Clinton initiated the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," 16,000 Sodomites signed up in the military but 12,000 were dismissed because they "Told." They will push for total freedom to do what they wish. They will be wide open in the sins once the President keeps giving them open freedom to practice their sins.

Be prepared for a drastic change in America very shortly. You've seen nothing with the sin that is coming very soon in a neighborhood near you! —Dr. Mal Couch (8/11)

A Dallas paper has begun reporting gay marriages, including the pictures of the "guys" getting married!

The mayor of New York city is now marrying homosexuals in a public service! The Information phone number of the state of Michigan is now saying you have three languages you can dial up for information. English – Spanish – Arabic! And a school in Michigan is allowing its cafeteria to be used for a weekly Muslim service at no charge.

America will be reaping a judgment. It is walking away from its Christian heritage. While America is not Israel, the principle of judgment is the same. The Lord warned the Jewish people to stop listening to the false prophets for "They are leading you into futility; they speak a vision of their own imagination, not from the mouth of the Lord. They keep saying to those who despise Me: 'The Lord has said, You will have peace. … They say calamity will not come upon you. … The anger of the Lord will not turn back until He has performed and carried out the purposes of His heart; IN THE LAST DAYS YOU WILL CLEARLY UNDERSTAND IT'" (Jer. 23:16-20). And, "The fierce anger of the Lord will not turn back, until He has performed and until He has accomplished the intent of His heart; IN THE LAST DAYS YOU WILL UNDERSTAND IT" (30:24).

God uses pain and distress to cause His people to turn to Him. It is said in Deuteronomy 4:30: "When you are in distress and all these things (pains) have come upon you, in the LATTER DAYS, you will return to the Lord your God and listen to His voice."

If you don't have it, you need to order William Koenig's great book EYE TO EYE. I believe it's right on target showing us the judgments of God coming on us for turning against Israel. Worse is yet to come! —Dr. Mal Couch (8/11)

And yes, they are all from liberal seminaries. Here in the Waco area, more women are taking up the pulpit. The poor sheep in the fold are getting wrong theology and weak-fish teaching. Just recently another woman has joined the heretical ranks from one of the most liberal and sorry seminaries in the country from the Dallas area.

They completely ignore what Paul says in 1 Timothy 2:11-15. He wants the woman to "quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness" (v. 11). He then adds: "I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet" (v. 12).

The heretical women then argue today, "Well, Paul is talking about cultural issues and not doctrinal issues." Wrong! He does not argue from cultural or social perspectives but from a doctrinal perspective. He says that Adam was first created and then Eve. And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being quite deceived, fell into transgression (v. 13).

The purpose of the pastor-elder is to "teach" the Word of God and in the church "to exercise authority" in the congregation. This demand and requirement has not changed. The primacy of the man over the woman is clearly stated in this passage. The man was first created and therefore has the authority over the marriage unit. This does not mean he is better than the woman but God has His order of priorities, and the man is responsible for the teaching of the family.

Men are more objective and not as emotional. They are to lead spiritually.

Woman, Paul says, are to be "sensible, pure, workers at home (home makers), kind, being subject to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be dishonored" (Titus 2:5). The woman is the weaker vessel, "since she is a woman, and grant her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life" (1 Pet. 3:7). She is not to be ostentatious with showiness (v. 3). But instead, "Let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God" (v. 4).

The woman is to be quiet (psuche). That is, she is not to be emotional but to be self-controlled with calmness. (1 Tim. 2:11-12).

The woman is to receive instruction (manthano). That is, she is to "learn by doing" (manthano) in her Christian walk. She is not to be the teacher but she is to be taught by the men, and by her husband. At our Yale and Harvard of Christian schools (Wheaton Graduate School) I did my MA thesis on this one word Manthano (it is used 25 times in the NT), which means "to learn by doing, by practice." My thesis was so complicated that my professors over my thesis had to get Greek scholars to read it; my major professors could not! (And yes, I got an A+ for the thesis)

Women do not lean toward doctrinal studies as men. They are more practical in their studies. Men lead in the doctrinal areas, not women.

In the Greek text, "to exercise authority" simply says "She is not to authenticate a man." This is a Present Active Infinitive in Greek. The word can be translated "The one who can act on his own authority." Or, "To exercise dominion over someone else." And, "One who does a thing by himself."

A woman is not to act on her own, not to exercise dominion over a man in giving instruction, or "She is not to do a thing (teach or preach) over a man." She can be too emotional, she is to remain quiet during the teaching time in a mixed crowd in the church. (I do believer, however, that a woman can ask questions but she cannot dominate the discussion.)

Where these women pastor-ettes went to seminary is terrible. When I was going to Dallas Seminary, I worked with a fellow who was going to "that" liberal school in Dallas. It so destroyed the Bible that he threw everything away and became an agnostic. I was working on my biblical thesis but he was instructed simply to "make up" his own systematic theology from his own mind. It so disheartened him that he gave up on the Scriptures. That's where these women were going!

By the way, most women only stay for a short time in the churches they go to. The people who hire them realize their mistake and they are dismissed! That's liberalism for you! —Dr. Mal Couch(8/11)

Under a military directive Muslim chaplains in our Army can handle the Koran but only with clean gloves in full view of the detainees. They must use two hands to show reverence and respect. The Koran should be "treated like a fragile piece of delicate art."

But when Bibles in the Dari and Pashto languages were sent to evangelical soldiers in Afghanistan, these Bibles were considered as subversive and were burned lest they could be used to proselytize the people and encourage conversions. It was stated that on the military base "all garbage is burned at the end of each day." Asked why they were not returned to the sender it was said that the Bible might then be sent to other soldiers.

We are in a sick country, that is growing sicker! And indeed, we are moving rapidly into the apostasy. I am expecting outright persecution to fall on us sooner then we have imagined. Maybe in the next five years or less! I am convinced if President Bush was still in office he would have stopped the practice of burning Bibles. But this President knows nothing, he is incompetent and actually at war with Christianity. He has been sent by God as a judgment upon our nation. Why should we pray for mercy: we do not deserve God's blessings upon us.

Prepare your hearts for persecution. —Dr. Mal Couch (8/11

The state of Arizona is being cruel to illegal thief-like criminals who sneak across our borders in order to get free food, medical care, etc. The illegals are "forced" to stay away from crawling like snakes across Arizona's state lines. What a shame, treating the illegals so badly. Making them have to stay in Mexico in order to build up their own country!

By their difficult anti-sneak-in laws, it is forcing the illegals to be unable to have free toilets in the wilderness, unable to get free water and food along the way, as they come across the lines into the state. How awful! Arizona needs to follow our President Barack Hussein Obama, and go the socialistic and communistic route. Make America the give-away nation! —Dr. Mal Couch (8/11)

If you are messing around with the view of Preterism you need to think twice! And, you need to read the volume The End Time Controversy, edited by Dr. Tim LaHaye and Dr. Thomas Ice. A bunch of us scholars got together and answered this strange view. We had three prophecy experts, two lawyers, one Jewish scholar, one archaeologist, and several well-known authors. Dr. Ice nailed the issue in one of the first chapters.

Though Preterism had been around in a limited fashion, he wrote, it is not until recently that it has become more accepted. Ice points out that none of the Reformed scholars adopted the preterist approach throughout the entire tenure of old Princeton which ended in 1929. Westminster Seminary which began in 1929 was an extension of the tradition of Princeton. No faculty member from Westminster had adopted this view except Jay Adams.

Why have those within the Reformed camp avoided preterism until very recent times? Ice says, "I believe, as Dr. Charles Hodge noted, they see it as a liberal approach to interpreting the Bible."

Why have a significant number of Reformed individuals been attracted to preterism as of late? I believe it is safe to say, Ice notes, that the overwhelming majority of Reformed scholars do reject preterism. But why?

By rejecting the historicism of previous Reformed exegetes, modern Reformed advocates believe that, in preterism, they have an interpretative system that can go up against a cogent system like futurism, Ice says. Mainly premillennial dispensationalism, which they hate with a passion.

The Reformed guys hate dispensationalism for three reasons: (1) It holds to a firm system of literal interpretation which was used by Christ, the disciples, and the prophets. (2) They hate the fact that dispensationalists rightly show the difference between Israel and the church. And (3) They hate the teaching of future prophecy yet to be fulfilled. (Which all orthodox Jewish scholars throughout the ages held to, and, which all in the early church embraced as well.)

One well-known Reformed teacher, who many of you would know, came out strongly against premillennialists and dispensationalists with a satanic attitude. With anger he wrote:

"The sickness that is epidemic in the evangelical church is the disease of dispensationalism, and more particularly dispensational prophecy (eschatology). These doctrines not only twist and distort the Scripture but bring the church to near paralysis. The harder we work to build Christ's kingdom, the more we delay it. Thankfully, God in his mercy has done a great work in waking up many people to their condition. The rapid spread of the doctrine of preterism has been a welcome tonic."

He forgets that in the past the majority of Bible colleges and seminaries have been dispensational. Almost all study Bibles have been dispensational. And the present love of this nation for Israel comes through the teaching and influence of premillennialism-dispensationalism.

By the way, many Bible conferences held by those in the Reformed camp work hard to never mention the establishment of the nation of Israel and the return of the Jews back to their own land. There is total silence on the subject.

I have available an outstanding treatment of the historical documentation from one of my books that the early church was dispensational. It will cost to have it copied. But if you would like to have send $20 to Scofield Ministries, 120 CR 3222, Clifton, TX 76634. It may take some weeks after I've received requests in order to get this to you. —Dr. Mal Couch (8/11)
