THE WORD “CEMETERY”

When was it first used? While pagans used the word sometimes, it was Christians who popularized its use. The Greek word is "koimataprion." It means a place where the body sleeps in the hope of a resurrection—was first popularized by believers. It marks the introduction of the more cheerful idea which the gospel has taught men to connect with the grave! It is the place of waiting for the resurrection! – Dr. Mal Couch
